The Philippines’ return to the world basketball stage started last night when Philippines took on Croatia to open its campaign in the FIBA World Cup 2014 in Spain.
Gilas Pilipinas lost that game by three points, but that was after they pushed the 20-plus point favorite opponent into overtime. They showed a lot of heart in that loss, introducing the world to the Filipino kind of basketball.
Last year’s silver medal finish in the FIBA Asia Championship (which got them the slot into this year’s FIBA Worlds) was magical.
I’m hoping for the same magic this year.
Laban Pilipinas PUSO!!!
